'A Great Place To Work' Workshop

LENGTH: 2 hours

AIM: To get an understanding from our people on what they think constitutes a ‘Great place to work’. 

 

STEP ONE (20mins)

What does a great workplace feel like? 

  1. Everyone selects the top five black cards (good feelings) in the deck that represents to
    them what 'A Great Place' to Work' feels like
     
  2. Everyone selects the top five white cards (bad feelings) in the deck that represents to
    them what 'A Great Place' to Work' does not feel like
     
  3. Lay all the cards on the table
     
  4. Give out everyone three dot stickers to vote on their favourite three feelings for
    feels like (the black cards) and does not feel like (the white cards).

The outcome of step one: We will have a list of the top three things we want our workplace
to feel like and not feel like. 


STEP TWO (20mins)

How we can tell if we’re getting it right?

Part 1. People to complete the following exercises for the ‘good feelings’
and we put our answers up on Post-it notes:

  • I know our people are feeling (insert good feeling here) if I see…
  • To help our people feel (insert good feeling here) we can….
  • Our people will not feel (insert good feeling here) if I….

Part 2. People to complete the following exercises for the ‘bad feelings’ and
we put our answers up on Post-it notes:

  • I know our people are feeling (insert bad feeling here) if I see…

  • To help our people not feel (insert bad feeling here) we can…

  • Our people will feel (insert bad feeling here) if….


STEP THREE: (60mins)

Our employee experience and touch points

Everyone to write their answers on Post-it notes (5mins for each section)
and then vote for their top three things we 'could do’ with dots on the following areas:

1. Recruitment process

  • What do you like about how it currently works?
  • What don’t you like about it?
  • What are some things we could be doing to make it awesome?

2. Induction/first week on the job

  • What do you like about how we currently do this?
  • What don’t you like about it?
  • What are some things we could be doing to make it awesome?

3. Internal communications

  • What do you like about our internal communications?
  • What don’t you like about them?
  • What ideas do you have that we could be doing to make it awesome?

4. Our physical environment

  • What do you like about our environment?
  • What don’t you like about it?
  • What ideas do you have that we could be doing to make it awesome?

5. What do you wish we did to improve the following areas: 

  • Wellness
  • Flexibility
  • Pressure/Stress
  • Benefits/remuneration
  • Being ‘ONE’ team
  • Recognition
  • Development & training

Everyone then votes on their favourite three ideas for each section

WORKSHOP END
